Islamic Illumination

Year 5 looked at manuscript illumination in Islamic art. They researched different calligraphy styles and wrote their names on gold or silver foil. some good examples.

We were very fortunate to have an Arabic calligraphy artist demonstrating his art to year 5 students. they practiced writing on paper.We talked about Illumination in manuscripts. The students wrote their names in Arabic on silver/ gold foil paper and created an embossed effect.
